Good afternoon Seacrest Family,
Yesterday we were notified that a Seacrest at Home employee who serves clients on our Seacrest campus has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
We immediately began contact tracing of our own staff and residents, as well as the Seacrest at Home employee, and assure you that we are taking every measure possible to provide protection. The few residents who were exposed to this employee in our independent living residence have already been tested, and thankfully all test results were negative.
As we have previously shared, we will continue to follow the “Criteria for Return to Work for Health Care Personnel with Confirmed or Suspected COVID-19” guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This is the case for Seacrest at Home as well.
Please also know that we continue to follow all guidance set forth for privacy, patient care, employee safety, and efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 as provided by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). We remain in constant contact with CDPH and CMS. As you know, Seacrest has its own stringent protocols; we are adamant about being risk averse when it comes to each of you. This new positive test result reminds us that we are not in any way free of the need to continue our strict practices.
As the number of overall cases rise in our country and in California, we expect there could be additional cases at our community as this disease especially impacts people who live in communal settings. As San Diego attempts to open up, we hope everyone will be mindful of the added repercussions that will occur if we are not diligent. We have already seen setbacks as a result of the public’s non-compliance and thus the spread of the disease. Just yesterday Governor Newsom issued new restrictions throughout the State.
We appreciate your understanding as we continue to enforce the State’s decision, as well as our own decision, to restrict all visits to the Seacrest community. We remind and encourage family members to communicate regularly through email, FaceTime, Skype, Zoom and traditional phone calls.
